Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete

After a successful 7-year run, Nintendo announced in early September that it will be shutting down the servers for its mobile game Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. While it’s not entirely surprising—as mobile games often have a limited lifespan—Nintendo surprised fans with an announcement of a Pocket Camp standalone app. This version will allow players to continue their Pocket Camp journey with a one-time purchase of €20 (or $9.99 in the U.S. for those who buy it before January 31, 2025).

The new Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete Edition is set to release on December 3, 2024. Nintendo recently shared an announcement video with all the details on this definitive edition. Watch the full video here, or keep reading for a quick recap of what’s in store!

Game Contents

With Pocket Camp Complete, you can start fresh or transfer your existing game data to pick up where you left off. Seasonal events from the past seven years will reoccur on a four-year cycle, with new events and items rolling out through September 2025.

Features we’ll lose in this new version include:

  • Leaf Tickets and Pocket Camp Club subscriptions
  • Online elements such as friend gifting and the marketplace

However, the game will now be fully offline, ensuring you can continue your Pocket Camp adventure anytime, anywhere.

Data Transfer

Transferring data to the new app is simple. Link your Pocket Camp account to your Nintendo account by November 28 to migrate your save data. After the transfer, you’ll keep everything—except Leaf Tickets, which will be phased out. Make sure to use them before they’re gone!

New Features

Say Hello to Leaf Tokens

Replacing Leaf Tickets, Leaf Tokens will serve a similar purpose by shortening crafting times and allowing you to buy special items. The difference? Leaf Tokens can be earned for free by simply playing the game.

Some former membership features will also return, including:

  • Walking around with your favorite animal
  • Saving campsite layouts
  • Decorating your in-game planner with stickers
Welcome Whistle Pass

To make up for the loss of online features, Pocket Camp Complete introduces a new location: Whistle Pass. Here, you can reconnect with friends via personalized “Camper Cards,” which you can share using a QR code. Already have friends on Pocket Camp? Update your app and share Camper Cards to ensure you can meet in Whistle Pass and potentially receive in-game gifts.

K.K. Slider’s Nightly Performance

Every day at 7 PM, K.K. Slider will perform live at Whistle Pass, bringing a new level of cozy to your Pocket Camp experience.

Complete Item Catalog

Keeping track of Pocket Camp’s extensive collection is easier than ever with a new full-item catalog. The catalog features all items from seven years of updates, with more being added. With “Complete Tickets” earned through gameplay, you can instantly unlock items in the catalog, skipping the wait for seasonal events.

As Nintendo introduces this new model, it sets a hopeful example for preserving mobile games beyond their official support periods. Here’s to hoping other game companies will follow suit, allowing us to continue enjoying the games we’ve invested in for years.

Alright, time for me to spend my Leaf Tickets before they’re gone—happy Pocket Camping!
